1852 – The will of George Bragg
This is the last will and testament of me George Bragg of the parish of Handsworth in the county of Stafford Wine Merchant by which I mean to dispose of all my worldly estate.
In the first place I will and direct that all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses be fully paid and I give and bequeath to the treasurer for the time being of the General Hospital in Birmingham in the county of Warwick the sum of fifty pounds to be applied to the general purposes of that institution such legacy to be raised and paid out of such part of my personal estate as the law permits to be appropriated by will to charitable purposes and without any deduction in respect of legacy duty
And I also give and bequeath to the treasurer for the time being of the Birmingham Dispensary the like sum of fifty pounds to be applied and raised in manner aforesaid and without any deduction in respect of legacy duty
And I give and bequeath to each of my grandchildren George Turner Frederick Turner William Samuel Turner Mary Elizabeth Turner Henry Turner Agnes Turner Rosa Turner Arthur John Turner and Emily Turner children of my late daughter Elizabeth Woodall Turner deceased the sum of five hundred pounds to be paid to them as they shall severally attain the age of twenty five years but without any interest in the meantime for or in respect thereof provided nevertheless that if any of my said grandchildren shall happen to die under the age of twenty five years then and in that case the said legacy or legacies of him her or them so dying as aforesaid shall sink into and form part of my residuary personal estate
And as to for and concerning all the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind or quality soever the same may be I give devise and bequeath the same unto my son George Davey Bragg his heirs executors administrators and assigns absolutely and for ever according to the respective natures thereof for his absolute use and benefit subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with the payment of my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses and of the several legacies by me hereinbefore bequeathed
And I appoint my said son George Davey Bragg sole executor of this my will and I do hereby revoke all former wills and codicils by me made

Proved at London 5th May 1852 before the Judge by the oath of George Davey Bragg the son the sole executor to whom admon was granted having been first sworn by ___ duly to administer.
