1845 – Will of Rebecca Dickinson (edited highlights)

This is the last will and testament of me Rebecca Dickinson widow of John Dickinson late of Birmingham in the county of Warwick gentleman deceased

Whereas I am entitled under the will of my late husband the said John Dickinson to the sum of two thousand pounds in _ _ of the decease of Henry Ellis and William Ellis therein named and I give and bequeath the said sum of two thousand pounds unto William Brunton of Eagles Bush near Neath in the county of Glamorgan Engineer and William Henry Buckland of Cadoxton Place near Neath aforesaid Gentleman their executors administrators and assigns upon trust to apply so much thereof as shall be found necessary in the payment of such of the legacies bequeathed by the will of my said husband John Dickinson as his personal estate shall be sufficient to pay and after payment thereof

Then as to the residue of the said sum of two thousand pounds upon trust for Maria Brunton daughter of the said William Brunton her executors administrators and assigns and in case the personal estate of the said John Dickinson shall be sufficient for the payment of the said legacies then as to the residue of the said sum of two thousand pounds upon trust for the said Maria Brunton as her executors administrators and assigns for ever _ _ and disposal

And I do by this my will by virtue of and in pursuance of the power reserved to me in and by in indenture bearing date the twenty fifth day of November one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine between the said John Dickinson and me the testatrix of the one part and Charles Glover of the other part and of a fine _ in pursuance thereof never having had any issue by my said husband direct limit and appoint that all that plot piece or parcel of land with the messuages and other buildings standing thereon and the appurtenances thereunto belonging situate in the parish of Westbromwich in the county of Stafford shall henceforth so remain and be unto and to the use of the said Maria Brunton her heirs and assigns for everI give and bequeath to my servants _ Lane and Jane Edwards and Martha _

And I hereby appoint the said William Brunton and William Henry Buckland joint executors of this my will whereunto I have set my hand this nineteenth day of February one thousand eight hundred and forty four
