Mary Greenhill Hammond 1822

1822 – The will of Mary Greenhill Hammond


This is the last will and testament of me Mary Greenhill Hammond of Birmingham in the County of Warwick Spinster I will and desire that that all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses may be fully satisfied and discharged by my executors hereinafter named

I likewise will and desire that the will of my late father Thomas Hammond deceased and all and every the [devised] bequests dispositions and directions therein expressed may be duly fulfilled by my said executors 
And I hereby ratify and confirm the same as far as in me lies

I likewise give and bequeath to my nephew Thomas Ellis Hammond the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds

Also I give devise and bequeath unto my cousin William Emery Hammond son of John Hammond of Wood House in the County of Salop Gentleman his heirs executors administrators and assigns all and every my freehold and leasehold estates in possession reversion remainder or expectancy and all and singular other my personal property and effects whatsoever or wheresoever the same may be situated and found at the time of my decease whether the said personal estate shall consist of ready money money out at interest on mortgage in the public funds or otherwise shares in the public companies metal allotted to me by any metal company in which I am or may be a proprietor and household furniture or of whatever other nature or kind my said personal estate may be (save and except my wearing apparel of all sorts which I do hereby desire and direct shall be divided between my three nieces Jane the daughter of my late brother Bonham Hammond and Mary and Sarah daughters of my brother Joseph Hammond

To hold the same and every part thereof unto my said cousin William Emery Hammond his heirs executors administrators and assigns according to the nature and description thereof

And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said William Emery Hammond sole executor of this my will

In witness whereof I the said Testatrix Mary Greenhill Hammond have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty second day of March one thousand eight hundred and twenty two

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testatrix Mary Greenhill Hammond as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who in her presence and at her request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses (the interlineations between the ninth and tenth lines being first made) Thos Freeman Bellamy James Beswick John Bowen

Proved at London 24th April 1822 before the judge by the oath of William Emery Hammond the sole executor to whom admon was granted being first sworn by commission duly to admy
